Beta III Thames Fireboat

The Beta III Thames Fireboat was a restoration project being undertaken by Helen Symonds.

The boat itself was constructed in 1926 by Merryweather & Sons in Clapham. The boat was made to fight fires in London from the river, and was used extensively in World War 2.

Helen bought the boat in the autumn of 2013 and began works to convert the boat to a liveable 1 bedroom riverboat. Arc Fab Sussex’s sister business, Riveted Narrowboat Company, undertook the repair works including repair and renovations to the metalwork on the boat.

The outstanding results of the hard work and dedication put into the Beta III by Helen can be seen on her website (Link below).
